Charles was born on 28-Sep-1873.  Charles' father was John Howden and his mother was Hannah Hill.  His paternal grandparents were John Howden and Mary Faulknor.  He was the youngest of six children.  He had three brothers and two sisters, named William, Robert Henry, Frederick George, Florence Adella and Eliza Eleanor.  He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Henry, John, Emma Jane, Mary and Margaret .
