Elizabeth was born on 28-Jan-1820.  Elizabeth's father was John Howden and her mother was Mary Faulknor.  Her paternal grandparents were James Howden and Elizabeth Morrison.  She was the second of eleven children.  She had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Robert, James, William Douglass, Henry, Margaret, Mary, Emma Jane, Sarah and Eleanor.
